Q. Why do beaded garments present such a problem when the care label states "dry clean only"? A. Although many beaded garments clean with great success, there are some which don't. The manufacturer of the jacket is likely to have tested the garment to see how it performs in dry cleaning. If it has been successful, he would then attach a care label to the garment stating that it can be dry cleaned. The "designer" may have bought 100 jackets from the manufacturer, then chose to stitch on some beads or sequins in order to change the way the jacket looks, changed the "name tag" but not the care label. The "designer" may not have tested the sequins to see if they can be dry cleaned, thus presenting the dry cleaner and the customer with problems.
